How The Unicorn Found His Horn
About How The Unicorn Found His Horn
How The Unicorn Found His Horn is a magical mid-winter tale about a little white horse called Stumpy, who grows up to become a unicorn. Stumpy has many amazing, and sometimes scary, adventures in the Wild Wood with all the animals of the forest.
Stumpy is a little horse with a funny bump in the middle of his forehead, who loves to escape to the Wild Wood to play with his many forest friends. However, one day Stumpy was caught out by returning from the Wild Wood too late and got lost in the dark, in the middle of a snow storm. Whilst trying to get back to his mother, Stumpy fell and banged his head hard.....This set off a chain of magical events, which changed his life forever and saw the birth of a unicorn!
This Unicorn book is written in the tradition of John Masefield's The Box of Delights and draws on the myth and legend of the Unicorn and the Winter Solstice. Each chapter is illustrated with full colour pictures of the horses and Unicorn, interspersed with images of The Unicorn Tapestries, which hang in The Metropolitan Museum of Art's Met Cloisters in New York.
This Unicorn story is a fun read, as well as a book to teach old lessons to new generations. It is suitable for children from the age of 10 upwards, including adults.
