McLurcher™ The Cap

McLurcher™ The Cap

Some rivers are crossed with dignity. This one is crossed at a dead run.

In McLurcher™ The Cap, a Highland laird in full tweed finery has been caught out in the middle of a rushing Highland river. His heather-mixture jacket and waistcoat are immaculate above the waist, his tie is neatly knotted, and his kilt is clutched firmly in both hands as the water surges around his knees. His hair is wild, his face is a picture of pure alarm, and his sporran swings as he splashes after the culprit.

The culprit is McLurcher™ himself. The shaggy white lurcher is bounding through the shallows, mid-leap and thoroughly pleased with himself. In his jaws is the laird’s tartan bonnet, complete with its red toorie and feather, dripping and quite beyond rescue. He has no intention of giving it back, and certainly not before the chase has been properly enjoyed.

Behind them the Highlands look on with perfect composure. A weathered stone bridge arches over the water, pines climb the hillside, drifts of purple heather glow against the autumn bracken, and distant mountains rise beneath a bright, cloud-flecked sky. The tumbling river is full of movement and sparkle, with white spray flying from every stride.

Painted in a rich, detailed watercolour-and-ink style, McLurcher™ The Cap captures that familiar moment when a loyal companion decides the rules of the day have changed. It will be recognised at once by dog lovers, Scottish Highland enthusiasts, and anyone who has ever chased a four-legged thief across open country.
