McLurcher™ Montage

McLurcher™ Montage

Seven scenes. One Highland laird. One dog who is absolutely not sorry.

McLurcher™ Montage brings together a whole day of Highland misadventure in a single, richly detailed artwork. Our dignified Highland laird sets out in his tweed jacket, tartan kilt, sporran and feathered bonnet, ready for a stately stroll through the glen. His white lurcher, jingling collar bell and all, has other plans.

The adventure begins on a heather-covered hillside, where the lurcher seizes the moment (and the kilt) while a watchful stag looks on. A moment later the laird is flat on his back among the boulders, boots in the air, as his delighted companion bounds over to inspect the damage. Next comes a dash through a rushing river, the laird wading after his dripping bonnet, which the lurcher carries off with great pride.

Lunch fares no better. The picnic is upended, the tea is in flight, and the lurcher makes a triumphant getaway with a sandwich. At the stile, a rucksack is raided mid-climb as the signposts to Ben Aonghas and Loch Duin look on. Then comes the gate, which, as the sign cheerfully confirms, is merely a suggestion, with a flock of black-faced sheep as witnesses and the lurcher trotting off with a muddy boot.

As the sun sets over the loch, peace finally falls. The weary laird sits on a rock, chin in hand, and his faithful companion leans in for an affectionate nuzzle. All is forgiven, until tomorrow.

Painted in a vivid, storybook style, the artwork is full of lovingly observed detail: purple heather, lichen-covered rocks, tall Scots pines, misty mountains, a distant castle and a golden Highland sunset. It is a celebration of the unbreakable bond between a dog and its long-suffering owner, and of the joyful chaos that comes with it.
